· Secondary schooling: As a minimum, 20 semester hours in instructional technology and the specialized subject matter of secondary education are required. Additionally, two fields of secondary teaching must be prepared; a primary field with 30 credit hours and a secondary with 20 credit hours.

The Idaho State Department of Education mandates that all candidates applying for initial certification must meet the following requirements:

· Earn a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution

· Complete the minimum requirements of a state-approved educator preparation program or an Idaho state-approved alternate educator certification program

· Pass a criminal and background check

· Pass Praxis II test
