Maryland is a state located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. It is one of the smallest states in terms of area, as well as one of the most densely populated states of the United States. The state’s largest city is Baltimore, and its capital is Annapolis.

Do you about the state’s etymology? Although the state is officially claimed to be named after Queen Henrietta Maria, many historians believe Maryland was named after Mary, the mother of Jesus, by George Calvert.

Well, Maryland has worked hard in the past few years to open some doors just for you and for others like you who may have decided to change careers or who have just graduated from college and find you now wish to teach. Maybe you are in the armed forces and due to separate from the service and begin to “serve again”, as the multitude to Teachers motto suggests. You have come to the right place as Maryland has many programs from which to choose.

What are the basic requirements for teaching?

For earning your Maryland teaching credential you will have to complete the appropriate amount of undergraduate coursework and standardized tests, as well as an accredited certification program.

It tender four levels of certification for graduates of conventional teacher preparation programs.

· Standard Professional Certificate I, concerned to teachers during at some point after employment at a Maryland public school or accredited non-public school

· Advanced Professional Certificate, concerned to teachers who have met all of the above requirements and earned a master’s degree, or completed a minimum of 36 semester hours of post-baccalaureate course work.

What if you are already having graduate certificate?

If you already have a bachelor’s degree, you are ready to begin looking at choices. For you there is one way to acquire and maintain certification or to enhance your aptitude to apply for and obtain other positions in education is the get the Master’s degree.

Agreed that fact, you may want to enroll in a post-baccalaureate program that concludes with both your certification and a master’s degree! You might start your search for the perfect fit by reviewing the list of Maryland Approved Programs (MAP) at the following link,

These programs are considered traditional routes to teacher education, may be full time, or may be offered on a part-time basis, and are really all over the state.

What are the required Tests to be cleared?
